Drop Everything and Read Event 29th September 2015

William Lovell students Drop Everything and Read. On Tuesday 29th September all students in the academy spent 15 minutes reading at the end of lesson one. Rhoda Bateson, literacy coordinator said “It was a fantastic event; everyone enjoyed the opportunity to delve into a book. Several students didn’t want the lesson to end, lots have asked to keep the book they borrowed to continue reading at home.” Here at the Academy we believe that reading is a vital part of our young people’s development. Reading is to the mind, what exercise is to the body, it promotes; Mental Stimulation, Vocabulary Expansion, Memory Improvement, Improved Focus and Concentration, Better Writing Skills and Knowledge. We are looking forward to our next event on 24th November 2015.
